History

In 1994 the company had been founded in the process of a research project at the Rostock University. The objective of this project was to analyze the combustion quality of biogenic fuels in slow and medium speed running diesel engines.

Initially the team of GMK had been occupied with the calculation and analysis of combustion curves and internal heat losses. During this research project the technical knowledge gained theoretically, was tested with a one cylinder engine on a unique test stand specially designed for the project.

After the phase out of this scientific venture the new knowledge had been used to plan and erect motor block heat and power plants for clients of GMK. Since the year 1996 approximately 20 motor block heat and power plants, for mineral and renewable fuels up to an electrical power output of 2 MW, had been planned, delivered and partially produced. To increase the economic working and heat -supply security, those plants often had been complemented with combustion devices for solid biomass, especially for wood chips.

Since the year 2000 GMK has been a company of GBZ-Holding (Count of Brandenstein-Zeppelin Holding). Furthermore the company G.E.T. (corporation for energy technology) had been integrated into the GBZ company group.

In June of 2005 GBZ-Holding shares had been sold to the GMK management, therefore the shares had been subdivided into equal parts between GBZ Holding and the management.
Also in 2005 patents and assets of G.E.T. had been acquired by GMK.

In January of 2007 the former shareholders sold 25,1% of the company shares to KBG (Kürvers investment GmbH) from Duesseldorf (http://www.kurvers.com). KBG still holds the shares today.
